The Andrew Jackson cottage and american rangers centre
A small but intriguing stop looking into our American Scotts/Irish heritage
The cottage highlights America’s Ulster-Scots connections as well as the story of the 7th president of the USA, Andrew Jackson, whose parents emigrated to America from Carrickfergus in 1765. This single storey building has been restored to its original state and is very impressively decorated. Beside the Andrew Jackson Cottage is an exhibition on the Rangers who were based in Carrickfergus soon after Pearl Harbour. The exhibition on the famed unit includes a unique collection of uniforms, photographs and documents.
